Myrtle Beach Plastic Surgeons

Percy H. Lo M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Percy H. Lo brings a diverse background and wealth of experience in plastic and reconstructive surgery, clinical research, healing, trauma care, and volunteer service — both in the civilian and military realms — to Sculpted Figures.

A former U.S. Air Force Chief of General Surgery and Rapid Response Team member for four years (2001-2005), Dr. Lo has done everything from directing surgeons and technicians in all aspects of preoperative care plus peer and medical record review; to mobilizing troops and supplies and creating a 300-bed field hospital during the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The former chairman of both the infection control committee and cancer committee function — and a member of the air base’s critical incident stress team and expeditionary medical support teams – Dr. Lo won the Meritorious Service Medal while at McGuire Air Force Base (N.J.) in 2005, the First Sergeant’s Award at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. (2005), an outstanding unit citation at McGuire in 2003 and 2004, and was given and honorable mention as Pediatric Surgery Resident of the year at Medical Center of Akron (Ohio)’s Children’s Hospital (1999). As a physician volunteer for both free clinics and the Red Cross, Dr. Lo has provided free general or plastic surgical and wound care for uninsured and indigent patients, as well as federal employees, military members, and their families.

Research-wise, Dr. Lo has authored or co-authored nine different publications on reconstructive surgery, infection control, postoperative care, and hernia repair. He has investigated and authored studies and projects on wound healing and chronic, non-healing wounds, complex sound management and reconstruction, and multi, drug-resistant organisms as a Fellow at the Institute for Wound Care and Limb Preservation, and has performed research on cranial suture fusion and facial aging factors in addition to performing cosmetic hand and reconstructive surgery on both adults and children.

Dr. Lo is board eligible and board certified in general surgery after a wound healing and reconstruction fellowship at Cooper University Hospital/University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Camden, N.J. (2005-2007) and putting in five years of general surgery residency (1996-2001) at Huron Hospital/Cleveland Clinic Health System without an 80-hour-work-week restriction. He also performed his plastic surgery residency at University Hospitals/Case Medical Center and Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio (2007-2010) and is board eligible in plastic surgery.

In addition to his establishment as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Lo is certified in advanced trauma life support and advanced cardiac life support, while currently a resident member of the Ohio Valley Society of Plastic Surgeons, Ohio State Medical Association, a member of The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, American Society of Plastic Surgeons candidate member, and University Hospitals/Case Medical Center Resident Society surgery representative.
